Citiez Hotel Amsterdam

I accidentally left something in the room after our weekend, so we called the hotel and they sent it back right away. I really appreciated that. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Free parking and good public transport connections were among the things that appealed most to my partner and me as we explored Amsterdam. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely come back.

Avoid this hotel if you’re traveling by car. The “Nieuw-West” parking garage was recommended and directed by reception as a secure, free option for hotel guests. When we returned to our car, its window had been smashed. The hotel didn’t tell us that other guests’ vehicles had been vandalized in the days before. Afterward, their explanation changed: the parking was described as public and at our own risk, and they said they had no responsibility and no solution. We confirm that we parked in the facility the hotel expressly recommended, and we have kept written exchanges that contradict any claim otherwise. We also have evidence and accounts from other guests who experienced similar incidents, showing the issue was known. We tried to settle things amicably and sent detailed written messages, but the hotel stopped responding. There was plenty of superficial sympathy, but no accountability or transparency. That level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable for an establishment that presents itself as serious.

The tram was close by and came frequently. Getting to the city center took about 15-20 minutes, and we used public transit throughout our visit. Our three-night stay in the Lisbon room was good value. The room was small but comfortable for a few nights, with the basics we needed. Toiletries were a bit sparse compared with the larger bottles we’ve had at other hotels, but there were several shops around the square where we could buy small bottles. We chose this place because it cost less than staying right in the city center. The room faced the road and got a bit loud in the evening, which could be tough if you’re a light sleeper. It’s a convenient option if you want more comfort than a hostel without spending too much. For luxury, you’ll probably need to look elsewhere.

For my birthday, they surprised us with snacks, balloons, and some wine on the house. There’s a coffeeshop about five minutes away, plus lots of food and shopping options nearby. We had a great, really pleasurable four-day trip for two, and I’d consider coming back 🤗
