Getting up to the attic meant tackling a tricky staircase, which I already knew about, and the tenant helped carry my suitcase. Once I was up there, I really enjoyed it. The small attic was tidy, clean, and cozy, and the welcome was amazing: a bag of bread, croissants, cheese, ham, and wine. Thanks so much for such kind attention! 🙏🏻♥️

Frans Hals Loft - Amsterdam is a good alternative to expensive hotels, and we’d recommend it. It's small, but worked for the two of us, and we loved being able to come and go whenever we wanted. The place was super clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. There was a starter kit in the fridge, plus bread and sandwich supplies, and a market nearby for anything else. Keep in mind it's on the 3rd floor, the stairs are steep, and luggage takes care. I doubt it fits more than two people. The cash deposit was a bit of a problem for us since they don't take credit or debit cards, so plan ahead. Amsterdam is expensive! Grade: Eli = 4, Serge = 4+.

The owners were incredibly helpful, and this little loft is in a cool local area away from the touristy center. It’s a pleasant 30 minute walk into the center, or you can take the tram. The apartment is small but perfectly formed. The stairs are wild, four flights of what’s basically a spiral staircase. Very cool!

We felt at home in De Pijp, and preferred staying there to the city center. It's a cool, safe neighborhood with lots of nice spots for breakfast or a beer, plus local coffee shops. The museum area and vondelpark are very close. Public transport, including metro and tram, is a 10 minute walk, while the city center takes 20-25 minutes on foot if you don't want to take transit. Wienik was incredibly polite and helpful, answered all our questions, and insisted on carrying our luggage up to the 4th floor and bringing it down at checkout, so the stairs weren't a big problem. Our apartment had a cool street view and was very clean. When we arrived after a tiring trip, there were welcome treats ready: a couple of beers, good white wine, sandwich supplies, and fresh bread. If you're after a cool, safe, lovely neighborhood in amsterdam, this is the place.

We spent 5 days in the frans hals loft apartment and loved it. It's small, but handy and cozy, and the welcome spread of cheese, beer, and wine was a lovely surprise. Wienik was very welcoming and polite, and gave us lots of helpful information. The neighborhood was great to explore, felt very safe and local, and sometimes we didn't even feel like going into the city center.
