Hans Brinker Hostel

Really central, and clean. The rooms are small and don't offer much privacy, but they're okay for a night or two. Each has its own bathroom, though it's tiny. There's no air conditioning, and the window won't open properly, so our room got really hot when we stayed at the end of May. It has a bit of a party hostel feel and can be noisy at night, though it wasn't too bad.

There was no TV, but we were mostly out in the city anyway, and the hotel has a great bar. We ate and had drinks there, met a few friends, and had a great time. The food was delicious, especially the Korean chicken and fries, which I'd recommend. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room had enough space for our clothes and bags, and the bathroom was clean and well supplied. The room itself was clean too, though we did find a water bottle under the bed.

The room was freezing, especially rough after spending all day out and coming back at night. It was already very cold outside, and that kept me from giving this place five stars. We still had a good stay, and I'll give it four because the hostel is nice overall. The staff were genuinely kind and helpful, and you can tell they care about guests. The location is great and the hostel was very clean. Breakfast isn't anything special, but it does the job, and the staff there were friendly and welcoming too. The shower button has to be held down constantly to keep the water running, which is uncomfortable when you're trying to be quick out of respect for others. The towels were nearly useless because they were about child-sized. It would help to have a proper towel for stepping out of the shower, and a hairdryer in the room or available to guests would make it easier to warm up afterward. I get the minimalist hostel concept, but these small changes would make the place much more comfortable.

I spent three nights in an eight-bed dorm and had a good stay. The room was cleaned daily at 10am, and I got fresh towels each day. The cleaning staff kept everything tidy, and the bar and restaurant servers were great too. There were enough power sockets by the beds, the water was warm, and it stayed pretty quiet despite the central, busy location and the club downstairs that sometimes has gigs. The free storage room was useful, but you have to take full responsibility for anything you leave there since they don't track it. The beds were the least comfortable part. They were long enough but quite narrow, and the space between the bunks wasn't high enough to sit on the lower bed without hunching over and hitting your head. Still, I'd recommend the place.
