Our international flights from Australia were cancelled by the airline, so we couldn’t make it to the Airbnb for our honeymoon. We contacted the hosts right away, explained that it was out of our hands, and asked if they could make an exception. Even though we gave plenty of notice and shared the circumstances, they stuck to the cancellation policy without offering any flexibility. We understand that policies exist, but the complete lack of empathy or willingness to find a middle ground was deeply frustrating. We could see that the property had been booked again for most of the dates we cancelled, yet the hosts still wouldn’t consider a reasonable adjustment or partial refund beyond the policy. When we tried politely to discuss a fair solution, they dismissed us and told us to stop messaging. The communication quickly became cold and unhelpful, which was very upsetting in an already difficult situation. We understand that hosting is a business, but hospitality calls for some understanding and humanity, especially when international travel is cancelled. Based on this experience, we would not recommend staying here.

The suite was cleaned and refreshed every day, and we appreciated the complimentary coffee, water, mini chocolates, and different kinds of wine. The bathroom was well equipped, even with slippers, and the air conditioner kept us warm. The bedroom had two large windows that opened for fresh air. The bed was comfortable, and even the sofa bed was extremely comfortable, with an extra mattress from the owners for added comfort. The place is stunning, with designer decorations and amazing lighting. Its canal-side location puts you in the middle of everything while still being quiet, and there's a lovely view as soon as you step outside. Thank you, Rene, for making our stay so wonderful. We hope to return soon!

The welcome was warm, and you can see how much care and love went into the interior and design. What an amazing suite, with a stunning interior. It was perfect in every sense, and would definitely be our first choice on our next visit. Well done, Rene.

As my wife mentioned in her other review, this place is a basement. There’s one window at street level, and if you look out, you see people’s feet walking by. That wasn’t stated on the booking sites. When we arrived, I confronted the owner, who admitted he was cheating and said guests should have looked closely at the pictures to figure out it was a basement. He promised a refund, but that turned out to be another lie. Almost a thousand USD were lost because of his behavior. There are also doors in the room that lead straight to the owner’s private rooms. Spooky.

Be aware that this property is a basement. The owner doesn’t mention that on the booking site. We booked well in advance and arrived to find a dark basement. The owner admitted he had cheated and left out that detail. At first, he told us to book somewhere else and said he’d refund us. Then, within an hour, he marked us as “no show.” We got no refund and couldn’t even leave a review on bookingcom. What kind of person does that? He listed the property again and probably got paid a second time for the same nights.
