Morgan and Mees Amsterdam

I wanted to try everything on the menu, and the dishes I did order were so good. There’s a surprisingly interesting wine selection too. Already planning another visit so I can come back for the things I missed.

Kate was so friendly and helpful, and my wife and I had a terrific stay while visiting from Australia. The hotel is close to everything but sits in a calmer spot, away from the busy tourist areas. You can still walk to the city centre and other places easily. We’d definitely stay here again.

We’ve just come back from three nights at M&M, and it was a lovely stay. Room 9 was beautiful, the restaurant was nice, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. It’s got bags of charm and makes a great base if you want a quiet boutique hotel in a more chilled part of the city.

The room was clean and refreshed every day, and the bathroom was bigger than I expected for such a small space. The location was great, and the rose we got for Valentine’s Day was a lovely touch. We only spent a few nights here and didn’t use the room much, so some of the problems bothered us less. The biggest issue was the noise. We could hear people talking in the street and sounds from inside the building, and traffic at night was awful. Even the closed windows let air through, so the sound insulation was poor. I’ve stayed in dirt cheap hostels with better insulation. The restaurant was cold too, with a breeze inside that my sweater couldn’t keep out. To be fair, it wasn’t the only indoor place in Amsterdam that felt cold, so maybe it’s a Dutch thing. One side of the bed had sunk in, which really isn’t acceptable. The pillows were very specific and I couldn’t find one that worked for me, a first in a hotel. The blinds could also be darker, and parts of the room looked too worn for the price. Management should provide earplugs with the vanity package, replace the sunken beds, and consider more universal pillows.
