Postillion Hotel Amsterdam

Looking out at modern Amsterdam at night felt like being in "Lost in translation". The view from my room had a really futuristic feel. The hotel itself is clean, very modern, and welcoming, and the reception staff made me feel at home right away. Special thanks to Apostolis, who treated me like an old friend even though we’d only just met.

The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel is nice and modern. But the hairdryer they provide in the rooms is a sorry excuse. I’ve no idea how they found so many hairdryers from the 70s in 2025, but somehow they did. This is meant to be a business hotel, and I had to go outside in -3 degree weather with wet hair because the dryer wasn’t powerful enough to blow crumbs off a table. Sort it out. There are no light switches in the room, which is a weird choice since everything is controlled through a tablet by the bed. The electric curtains only go fully open or fully closed.

We went for a weekend getaway for my friend’s birthday, and the hotel went above and beyond on the surprise I’d requested for her. They even gave us complimentary drinks. It’s a very modern, clean hotel, and the staff were friendly with great service. Breakfast was good, but it should be clearer that the options are vegetarian. I also don’t think it’s fair to decide what people should eat for them. Parking was my main issue: €25 a day is ridiculously expensive. A hotel this large and in this price range should consider cheaper or even free parking for guests, though it won’t matter if you’re not driving. I’d still rate it highly, recommend it, and definitely visit Postillon hotel again when I’m in Amsterdam.

The reception staff were polite and helpful, and the hotel seemed nice in general, but one incident completely changed my impression. While we were outside smoking, a woman who seemed to work in housekeeping came over, blew her nose without a tissue, and spat on the ground right beside us. She did it without hesitation, and it was so unhygienic that I felt sick. Later, I saw the same person go into the kitchen. Seeing that made me seriously question the hotel’s hygiene standards and how clean the rooms really are. The place has potential, but this staff member’s behavior overshadowed everything else.
