The room was on the small side, but very clean and had a mini fridge. We found the location ideal, with a grocery store and good restaurants and pubs nearby, and museums and other sights within a manageable walk. The receptionist was so nice and helpful. We’d absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

I wouldn’t stay here again. The room was small and dark, and the windows didn’t open, which felt especially claustrophobic after the smoke incident. On our first night, the fire alarm started blaring around 4 a.m. and went on for nearly an hour. Guests were left outside in the rain while smoke filled the hotel, with no communication or reassurance from staff. The “AI” check-in and assistance system was no help during the emergency, and the fire brigade never showed up. I also wish I’d known the hotel is directly above a nightclub that stays open until 5 or 6 a.m. The noise was bad enough on its own. The whole stay was stressful and uncomfortable.

We were on the fourth floor, so the stairs were as steep as expected. The room and shower were clean, and the room worked well for three of us, with a double bed and a single. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful. Great location too, I’d recommend it.

The room at Bolster was modern and clean, and the beds were really comfortable. We could walk to everything in the city from this great location. I’ll recommend the hotel to friends and family visiting Amsterdam. I’d booked a triple room less than a week before our stay as a birthday surprise for my friend, who’d just arrived from Australia. I got there at 10:30 a.m., ahead of my two friends, and Sorena kindly let me check in early since the room was ready. Once I explained the surprise, she helped me decorate and thought of things I wouldn’t have. I honestly couldn’t have pulled it off without her. Sorena is the best, and she gave us loads of suggestions for places to eat and things to do.

A nice little boutique hotel in a great location. Just be sure you’re okay with steep stairs.
