B&B De Mansarde

We loved how easy it was to explore from here. The B&B sits between the city center and the palace, both within walking distance, and the walk to the palace is lovely. There are plenty of good places to eat downtown. We rented bikes for the day and found it easy and calm to get around Apeldoorn, especially compared with Utrecht. E-bikes are available too. Emily was delightful and made us feel at home, letting us use the fridge, oven, microwave, and dishes. The place has clearly had a lot of thought put into it, from the natural, elegant decor to the motion-sensor lights in the entrance and stairs. Bedroom and bathroom lights dim, the shower has a rainfall head, and there's a towel warmer. The doors are solid and private, and we appreciated having one double bed rather than two singles, which we'd encountered at other hotels in the Netherlands.

The location is quiet and pleasant, with lovely little houses, about a 15-minute walk from the forest and just five minutes from the nearest grocery store. Everyone I dealt with, including the hostess, was warm and helpful. The shared living room, kitchen/dining area, and terrace were beautiful and comfortable. Cooking isn't possible, but guests can use the big fridge, oven, and microwave. My room had a very comfortable bed, quality linens, windows on two sides, and plenty of light. There was also a relaxing sitting area and a modern bathroom with both a rain shower and a handheld sprayer. The large TV swivels for easy viewing, and it had an unusually wide selection of cable channels. Everything was very clean and well cared for, and the price felt good for the quality and decor. It felt more like a hotel than a B&B.

We stayed in de Mansardekamer, which had loads of space, a comfortable bed, and a very modern bathroom. Breakfast was a great start to long days biking around Apeldoorn, with fresh local breads, fruit, cold cuts, yogurt, and hagelslag. You can eat inside or out on the lovely back deck. The B&B is on a peaceful residential street, close to attractions in Apeldoorn and the surrounding area. We were treated very kindly, and the service was phenomenal. I highly recommend staying here and renting bikes.

Emily was a really kind, friendly host, and our room was clean and well equipped. It was a cozy stay, conveniently close to the city center. I thoroughly enjoyed being there.
