We were there for the World Superbikes in Holland, and TT Assen Circuit is only about 20 minutes away by car. Selatuinen itself was fantastic, peaceful and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Anton and Ingrid were lovely and very accommodating. Breakfast was excellent and generous, with what we’d call Continental choices as well as some distinctly Dutch items. It kept us going all day. There are small towns about 5-10 minutes away, though many places to eat seemed to close by 9 or 10pm. We looked for takeaway delivery, but mostly found pizza places. Supermarkets including Aldi and Jumbo are around 10-15 minutes away for snacks. We’d absolutely recommend Selatuinen and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if we return to Assen.

The garden is gorgeous, and the beds, pillows and shower were all very comfortable. We stayed four nights in the cozy Tuinkamer, and Ingrid and Anton spoiled us from the moment we arrived with homemade bites for arrival and drinks time. Breakfast and the dinner you can reserve in advance were a treat every time. The food was unbelievably good, surprising, made with healthy ingredients and vegetarian for us. It was lovely to look at too, served on charming English tableware. Something to look forward to each day. And the screens and big, quiet fan were great to have as well.

We’ve been here before, and this visit to the pavilion with friends was wonderful again. The atmosphere is lovely, with nature all around, and we were treated to delicious breakfasts with lots of food. We also ordered dinner for the evenings, which felt like a real luxury and tasted great. The area is beautiful for walks and bike rides. Thanks for being so welcoming.

The pavilion’s big windows and natural light make it feel like you’re right among the gardens and forest. It’s spacious and beautiful, and the people are welcoming. There’s lots to see and do, and it worked well for us with dogs and teenagers. We loved the gardens and the delicious vegetarian food. It’s also a handy starting point for trips to Friesland, Drenthe and Overijssel.

We loved staying in the pavilion cottage, and the garden was beautifully kept. The hosts were very hospitable too. My partner and I had a wonderful time and would love to return.
