Hotel Isis

The second night was rough too. The floors are cheap and thin, and noisy people upstairs carried on past midnight. Others kept going up and down the stairs all night. On the first night, a couple came into my room with keys, so the receptionist must have forgotten which rooms were unavailable. Capitalism hits hard with this Amsterdam experience. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who gets overstimulated easily.

There’s no elevator, and the tiny spiral stairs make it hard to haul luggage up three floors. The place is very small and dirty. I wouldn’t recommend it for older people, or really anybody. They only clean the room if you ask before 11am for the following day.

Most things were great. The staff were kind, helpful, cooperative, and understanding, especially the owners in charge. My only problem was one employee who was irresponsible, dismissive, and rude.

The receptionist was so nice and even helped us carry our bags upstairs. But as soon as I saw the room, I wanted out. No air or ventilation, curtains on the headboard, and a bathroom like a box. The whole place was just way too big for us. I didn’t care if it was refundable, I told him to keep the money and went back to the ferry. I booked another hotel for $360 American dollars.
