Grand Hotel De Draak

A grand old building in a lovely historic setting, right on the main square. The bed was comfortable, the staff friendly, and breakfast very good. Great value for money.

The location on the square is amazing, with cafes, restaurants, bars and shops right outside. The hotel was brilliant and the staff were amazing. The chef greeted the boys straight away and offered them some lovely chocolate. Parking behind the hotel is hard to find, and the cheaper option near Jumbo is a five-minute walk away. We'd highly recommend staying here and hope to return on future family trips.

Our room was spacious and looked out over the marketplace. The breakfast was very good, and the wellness area was included, though it wasn't really a wow. Fine for some rest, but that's about it. The hotel is a famous historic place in old buildings, and it's well located for visiting the city. All in all, a very nice experience.

The housekeeping really let the hotel down. During our 4-night stay with my daughter, cleaners came just once. Even then, they left the bathroom bin full, didn't leave toilet paper, and the room still felt dusty. We had to ask for toilet rolls every night, which shouldn't happen at a hotel of this standard. The bedside lamp was dusty too. As a cleaner myself, I don't think this is acceptable when guests are paying a lot. It feels like nobody checks the rooms after they're cleaned. The reception lady who checked us in was wonderful. She kindly changed our room, was very helpful, and even opened the window for me when I couldn't. Breakfast was okay, not bad, but could be better. Reception service was excellent, but the poor housekeeping was a big disappointment.
