Hotel - Restaurant - Cafe- Geertien

We had lunch at Geertiens and liked the pancakes, but the view over the water was amazing. It’s very kid friendly, with a sandbox play area. We had a good laugh when we realized the crosswalk was actually a carpet.

The breakfast was great, with plenty of choice, and the breakfast room looks out over the water beside the hotel. The young bar staff were lovely, and I enjoyed a good whiskey in the warm, pub style bar. We’d eaten elsewhere, then came back for a late drink. The clean, smart room was plain, with all the sockets grouped in one spot and none by the bed. The TV only had local channels, with no guide, and seemed to need a PIN for anything else. We were told the engineer wasn’t available at weekends, so on a very rainy evening we couldn’t stream our own services. That felt like a missed opportunity. The countryside location is great, but the welcome was poor. We stood in the doorway with our bags waiting to be acknowledged, and the host’s first question was whether we were having dinner there, rather than a hello or asking about our journey.

A peaceful spot near Giethoorn village, ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature. You can sit by the canal, eat or drink, and take in the scenery. There’s highway access, lots of parking, and bikes for rent. Breakfast was fine, with the homemade bread as the highlight. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and we enjoyed our time there. The rooms were clean, well maintained, and had all the facilities. I’d love to come back and stay a few more days.

The staff were welcoming, the rooms were clean, the hotel smelled really good, and the bathrooms had been renovated. There’s also a very nice outdoor seating area. For a 3 star hotel, it was a very nice experience. It’s 12 KM from Giethoorn. You can rent an electric bike on the premises and cycle there, or drive for convenience, especially since parking in the center is free. You need to let them know your dining plans in advance, which can be limiting.
