Roompot Vakanties Vakantiepark Hunzedal

A lovely base for exploring this part of the Netherlands, in a beautiful setting. There are excellent camping pitches and facilities, as well as great houses, and lots for the whole family to do.

I don’t really like it here :3 The toilets sometimes still have other people’s business in them, some showers don’t work, and there’s only a small bench for putting your things. The Wi-Fi is also awful in a tent. I get the same bars at home and the connection is much better there. The rest of the stuff is okay, but the toilets, showers and Wi-Fi are crap. I wouldn’t recommend coming here just to relax either, because you can hear kids screaming from only 500 metres away.

There’s plenty to explore nearby, and keeping the kids entertained shouldn’t be a problem. The park sits at the edge of Borger, so shops and places to eat are close if you don’t want the park restaurant or to cook. It’s arranged around a large artificial lake that becomes a swimming lake in summer. A flock of Canada geese, one Nile Goose, a bar-headed goose and a few grey geese had made it their territory. They weren’t aggressive or much of a nuisance, just wandering quietly around and keeping the grass trimmed while leaving fertilizer behind. I can’t blame the management for wildlife being hard to control. We were pleasantly surprised by our budget chalet. We’ve rented similar places at other parks and know it can be hit or miss, but this one was clean, decent and had what we needed, apart from an oven. It was a little dated, the couches weren’t very comfortable, and a sunbed or two would’ve been nice. Still, it was more than acceptable. The facilities were decent, if a little dated, and everything felt clean and well maintained. I recommend this place.

There was lots to do on the park, from bowling and mini golf to the pool, lake swimming, water biking and bike rentals. The house was perfect and close to the shop, beach and pretty much everything. The grounds were clean and well maintained, and the location made it easy to reach other places and find things to do on holiday. We ate at the restaurant a few times. It was a bit expensive, but the food and service were excellent. I’d definitely come back.
