Campanile Hotel Breda

The staff at Campanile and the attached Premiere Classe made a rough time in my life feel a little lighter. I had to find a hotel in February after leaving an abusive situation where I’d been hurt and had to rush out of home. I’m really glad I chose these hotels. Everyone made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived, and I never felt like a burden when I asked for help. The staff joked and had a good time together, but were always quick to help guests. I had to keep extending my stay because of my housing situation, and they were happy to help each time. I moved from Premiere Classe to Campanile partway through. The renovated rooms look stunning, especially for the price. The lighting is dim, which I liked, though another lamp might help someone who wants a brighter room. With the curtains open in the day and the softer lighting at night, it felt comfortable to me. My room was clean, with plenty of towels. During my multi-day stay, the front desk and housekeeping checked every day whether I wanted cleaning or needed anything. I could choose which days to have the room cleaned, and they did a good job even with my things around. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and I slept really well despite having sleep apnea and PTSD nightmares that usually make hotel stays difficult. The showers were great, with hot water and strong pressure from both the waterfall setting and handheld faucet. Breakfast costs around 18 Euro and includes hot food like eggs, bacon and toast, plus cereal, yogurt, fruit, meat and cheese. I didn’t eat it every morning, but when I did, it was a great start to the day. The location isn’t ideal, but there’s a bus stop nearby, so it’s easy enough to get where you need to go. The renovated room was lovely, though the lighting in it was very dim. There are no bins in the room and nowhere to dispose of rubbish yourself, which isn’t great for a longer stay. There’s no laundry service either. The restaurant is decent, but only open Monday to Thursday. The hotel is way out on Breda’s edge, so getting into town means a 20-minute bike ride or a taxi. There aren’t any restaurants or cafés nearby.

The rooms have improved a lot, but the location is awful. The restaurant food isn’t as good as it used to be. Uber Eats will save you.

The lobby was the only nice part. Several people in my group found bedbugs in their beds.
