We know Duinsuites and had stayed in Duinsuite 3 before. This visit, we were in Duinsuite 1. The suites have a lot going for them: they're spacious, with a good kitchen and a large bathroom. We also find the location ideal, especially with access to the nudist beach. But this stay fell far short of what we expected. Several problems added up, and we aren't usually people who complain. We arrived to find the accommodation poorly cleaned, which made it hard to feel comfortable or hygienic. The bathroom had a constant, unpleasant sewage smell, the sinks were blocked, and one was leaking underneath. We reported it all right away, but no one helped. We stayed another five days and nothing was done. The kitchen had a broken Teflon pan that we couldn't use, and we saw several cockroaches there. That made us uncomfortable for the whole stay. The bedroom mattresses were also worn out and extremely uncomfortable. We woke with body aches every morning and couldn't get a good night's sleep. They need replacing, or future guests will have the same problem. All of this seriously spoiled our visit. We hope management deals with these issues so others can have a better stay, but we have to leave negative feedback based on our experience. We'll also share it in a Google review so other guests know what happened.

The location was fantastic, right by the sea, and Callantsoog is a charming place. We spent four days here with our dog. The room and kitchen were fine, with everything we needed. Since we were out and about a lot, the little drawbacks didn't bother us too much. The soundproofing was poor enough that I could hear the neighbors' alarm in the morning. Parking in the narrow spaces took some care, though we managed, and there's a large free beach car park right next door. It was also strange being able to see into everyone's bed from outside. With that being the only entrance, we couldn't leave the door open at night, and the room got very hot.

Parking was the one thing I struggled with. Everyone seemed to have a large car when I was there, and getting parked was quite an adventure. Otherwise, I have no complaints. I'd worried after reading some negative reviews, but none of those concerns matched my experience. The house was clean and had more than I expected, including a hairdryer and clothes rack, so I didn't have to bring those. The apartment was a decent size, bigger than some hotel rooms. The kitchen is small, but it's easy enough to cook a meal, and I don't usually need more than two burners at home anyway. They provide a starter kit with toilet paper and kitchen cleaning supplies. If you get along well with the people you're staying with and don't need to keep out of each other's way, a week here is easy. The main road runs past the house and you can hear it at rush hour, but there's very little traffic in the evenings. This was my first time in Callantsoog after 40 years of staying in Cadzand. I was absolutely thrilled with the village and the beach.

We spent Valentine's weekend here and had dinner too. Everything was decorated, with a bottle of champagne and some sweet little gifts. The place was very well maintained, and I highly recommend it. You get a lovely view of the dunes, there's no car noise, and you can walk everywhere. Our dog was delighted too, especially with the treats and a ball they gave us. We'll be back.

We've been coming back for eight years, since the apartment concept and great location are ideal for a short break. Dogs are very welcome too. Still, the apartments are starting to feel worn. The beds are badly overdue for replacement, and even the mattress topper doesn't make them comfortable. A bathroom hook has been loose and crooked for three years, so it's no use for hanging anything. The film on the bathroom cabinet is peeling, and its wooden shelf needs replacing as well. The table and chairs were replaced a few years ago, but every screw on our chairs was loose and they felt unstable. Some of the patio chair seats were broken. We also found the heating hard to adjust at night, and it was far too warm for us. It's a shame, especially when the apartments are always fully booked. A little investment in the furniture and equipment would surely be worthwhile.
