Hotel Aan De Singel

You don't see the staff much, but they're very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, with a large bed, desk, closet, bedside tables, and a big bathroom with a nice shower. Prices are very good for what you get. There's also a kettle in the room, plus small shared refrigerators in the hall where you can keep some food.

It's very clean and almost spartan, with a comfortable bed, pillow, and blanket. The rooms are small, and the two beds are narrower than single beds, placed side by side, which makes things tricky if you move around in your sleep. There's no A/C, but it really isn't needed in this area. I'd come back, though it won't suit everyone.

The rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day and stayed remarkably warm even in sub-zero temperatures. Plenty of complimentary tea and coffee helped keep us happy.

I've stayed here several times over the years, and when I'm in this part of the world, it's the only hotel I want to use. The staff are great and so, so helpful.
