The old Navy buildings that Napoleon built are opposite Hotel De Werf. The hotel has eight cozy rooms, and although the owners aren’t always there, that was fine with me. There’s a clear way to get into your room. My bed was comfortable, and the shower cabin in the room was fine. The TV doesn’t have local programs, but you can use streaming services if you bring your own login. Breakfast starts at 07:00 and was good. They can adapt it for vegan guests, and even offered a vegan lunchbox where you can pick what goes in from the buffet. A pleasant stay, and I’ve already booked my next business trip.

We loved having breakfast in the cozy downstairs space. The place is welcoming, comfortable, and nicely located, with comfy beds and a lovely view.

The room has some nice touches: good air conditioning, strong shower pressure, a coffee machine, a balcony, and attractive decor. Still, the price felt far too high for such a small space. There isn’t a proper bathroom, since the shower and sink are right in the room. The balcony could have been great, but the chairs had big cobwebs, so it clearly hadn’t been wiped down in a while. There’s also a wasp nest in the corner. For the price, I expected room cleaning and replacement essentials like toilet paper, but neither happened. With no late reception, there was nobody downstairs to ask. The location is nice, but it wasn’t good value.

Breakfast downstairs was plentiful, and the room was nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed, modern equipment, and opaque curtains that made for a good night’s sleep. The area was quiet too. One small annoyance: we couldn’t find a switch for the WC light, which seemed to use a sensor, and we couldn’t turn it off. The shower light came on as you walked past, which wasn’t fun in the middle of the night since the shower is in the room. We enjoyed our one night at Hotel de Werf.

The record player in the room was a nice touch. Boutique 1 was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, with a lovely view and heating and cooling that were easy to adjust. The shower was even better than the one at home. Breakfast was included and lovely, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The station is under a ten-minute walk away, and the sea and restaurants are less than five minutes away.
