Max Hotel Amsterdam

For a few nights, this is a great place to stay. It isn't very spacious and the shower is pretty average, but I still give it five stars because Lidl is right across the street and Albert Cuyp market is only a three-minute walk away. The location and price are fantastic.

After booking, I got worried by the Google comments, but maybe I was lucky. My room was small, though clean and undamaged. The walls really are thin, so if you end up next to inconsiderate people, you'll hear pretty much every sound they make. Earplugs might help 😜. And yes, you can sit on the toilet while showering 🚿

The room was clean when we arrived, quiet and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. But it stayed cold throughout our four-night visit because there was no heating. I reported it to reception several times and nothing was done. The room also never got cleaned, even though I asked repeatedly at reception and spoke to housekeeping directly. I made my dissatisfaction clear before leaving. With some of the promised services missing, the price doesn't feel justified.

The staff were friendly, and I got my deposit back as promised. I didn't mind the room, and the location worked out fine since I used the trains nearby. For what I paid, I'd recommend the place.
