B&B bij de Waegh

We spent two nights at De Waegh on December 22 and 23, 2025, as a birthday gift. I was there with my daughter and my grandchildren, aged 4 and 9. We really missed Jojanneke’s friendly welcome and service. This time, no one greeted us when we arrived. It was around 3 degrees Celsius outside, but the beds had summer duvets and there wasn’t a blanket to be found. There was also a dead plant in the living room, and the clock wasn’t working, though it only needed a battery. My daughter messaged the new owner, but didn’t get a reply for hours. They may be small things, but they still matter. Jojanneke, you’re the best. The new owner has a lot to learn. Ella van Varenmende

The apartment itself was very nice, and the cappuccino was fantastic. The breakfast, though, was a huge letdown for €22.50 per person: just a sandwich, a croissant, an egg, and a slice of cheese or sausage.

With its pretty ramparts, boats, and lovely shops, Dokkum is a cozy town where you quickly get that full holiday feeling. Definitely worth a visit.

A warm greeting from the staff, a well-prepared breakfast, and a beautiful B&B in a fantastic spot.
