Badhotel Domburg

The card issue dragged on for days after our stay. Badhotel Domburg later said they’d reserved the amount but forgotten to charge it, so I authorized the payment. Even then, the reservation stayed on my credit card. I called five times, was promised three callbacks that never came, and eventually heard it would be removed after 20 days. That was the end of a miserable stay. My girlfriend is from the area, so I booked Badhotel Domburg for a night out and a chance to celebrate her roots. On January 27, 2024, we’d had a pleasant, windy day walking around and enjoying oysters and wine. At check-in, staff had trouble finding our booking. Our room initially seemed fine for the price, though the pictures on the walls looked eerie. Getting information was difficult. We couldn’t find room-service details, and when I called, I felt interrogated about why I didn’t come downstairs to get things myself for less. Staff didn’t seem to pass information along, so I had to explain each request again. Later, when we went to bed, the bed fell apart. With no quick fix, we slept horizontally. The receptionist said the beds may have been tied together with a rope or something, and that it had probably been missed during cleaning. We’d hoped for a restful night away from our routine, but between that and the unresolved payment problem, it felt like a nightmare.

The wellness area was the best I’ve ever visited, and the rooms were beautiful and clean. We ate really well too, with an amazing, wholesome breakfast. The older staff were especially friendly and did what they could to help and make our stay lovely. One younger waitress wouldn’t bring us more snacks when we got hungry later in the evening, even though the bar was still open for 20 minutes. Also, since the hotel is already on the pricey side, a discount on wellness access for guests would be nice. Still, I’d highly recommend it and can’t wait to return.

The Grand Cafe food tasted good, but the portions felt small for the price. Breakfast, on the other hand, was a very good buffet. The pool seemed a little warm to me, though the kids loved it. The hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable, with an unbeatable location. There was no internet, either wireless or Ethernet. Our double bed was two beds pushed together, with two single sheets.

We went back and booked the meal arrangement again, despite last time’s experience. The food was still high quality and really good, but after a three-course dinner we were hungry, and the meal stretched to 2 hours and 30 minutes. That’s too long when you’re tired after a lovely day at the beach. For that price, going to bed hungry leaves a bad feeling. The rooms are really nice, the location is great and the breakfast buffet is good. We had the seven-night arrangement with four evening meals included. The dinners are nice, just not exceptional, and the portions are tiny. We won’t book the arrangement again, though we will return for another stay.
