Rcn Het Grote Bos

We spent four days here in our caravan. The campsite is huge, so bring or rent a bike. Depending on your pitch, walking to the pool can take a good 15 minutes. There are lots of playgrounds for kids, and the site is beside a national park. The pool itself is really good, but we were surprised that this massive, fun pool closes at 5pm. Who in management thought that made sense? We’ve been travelling around campsites with pools for over two weeks and never seen one close that early. You need a pass to get in. Why not give every guest a wristband instead of a little piece of paper you’re likely to lose? Reception could use some customer service training. It’s almost like talking to a wall. The showers and toilets are very clean, but showers are limited to five minutes. You use a card, then wait one minute if you want to extend the time 🫠

The reception can be difficult to reach, and its opening hours seem short for a holiday resort. You have to pay for toilet paper or bring your own. I was charged for towels that hadn’t been offered to me. They also required a deposit, which was fine, though a bit strange.

There’s loads of space here, and it feels safe and quiet. The grounds are tidy, the staff are friendly, and there are great facilities for kids and adults, try the yalp suto! The supermarket has fresh croissants and OJ. We’d have given five stars if the house had been cleaner, free Wi-Fi worked on more than one device, and reception had been more efficient. We’ll come back.

The Grote Bos is a beautiful, refreshing stretch of green, and there’s plenty to keep the kids happy. The staff were polite, kind, and helpful. We’d absolutely recommend it. Some accommodation is dingy and grubby, though, and badly needs updating or at least a coat of paint. I watched the cleaning staff, and the cleaning was appalling, with no supervision. Some shared areas also aren’t disability friendly.
