We stayed in the studio apartment, which was clean and had all the facilities we needed. Breakfast in the charming old bar was great. The place sits right by a canal. We visited during the week, when the bar has live music; that could make things noisy on those evenings, although they give you a good warning beforehand.

The service was pretty good. We hired a boat here for an hour and a half, at 30 euros per hour, which is cheaper than the boats in Giethoorn. It was good.

The steep stairs are something to keep in mind if you're carrying luggage. Even so, the view from the doorstep over the rooftops is unforgettable and really picturesque. The rooms are simple and rustic, but clean, with lots of useful kitchen items. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was basic but delicious. Edam's peaceful atmosphere gave us a nice balance to the busy streets of Amsterdam. It felt in line with a three-star hotel.

The location is lovely, and the hotel has a cute feel, but it’s very isolated from the city. There’s hardly anything nearby, not even a supermarket where you can buy water. The rooms are big enough, though there was dust everywhere. Breakfast didn’t feel worth the cost, and the room price is extremely high for this location. I’d consider staying only if you find a deal around 50-60 euros. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The people working at the hotel were kind and friendly, and spoke English well. Our room was nice, with enough beds and a little kitchen with a fridge. The city has a special feel, with docks running through it. It’s also a handy base for visiting Amsterdam, about 30 minutes from downtown.
