Fletcher Badhotel Egmond aan Zee

The location is the best thing about this place. I've visited Egmond many times, but this time I booked at short notice because nothing else was available. I paid €180 per night for two nights, including breakfast. The room was tiny, with loose wiring on the walls, a pot on the wardrobe catching water from a leaking pipe, and a very small toilet and shower hidden behind a wardrobe-like door. Being so close to the beach meant we didn't spend much time in the room, which was the one relief. An awkward place, and I can't recommend it.

We paid for an extra-wide room for my husband, me, and our two children, but it was still too small. It was far too hot, and we couldn't open the window because people working outside kept smoking by it. There's no air conditioning and no bathroom ventilation, and the bathroom is tiny too. With the extra baby bed, there was no room to walk.

The location is great, with sea-view rooms just a one-minute walk from the beach. The main issue for us was the noise. We could hear nearly every little movement in the rooms next door and above us, so it could be difficult for light sleepers. Still, being that close to the beach makes up for it.

I liked Egmond aan Zee, but our weekend at Fletcher Badhotel left me feeling we got too little for the price. The double room was quite small, with less than half a meter of space around the bed. We could easily hear conversations from neighboring rooms. Breakfast was okay. The hotel is only 30 meters from the bank, though you can barely see the North Sea from there. Still, it's only about a hundred-meter walk to reach the water and swim.
