The staff were friendly, and the place was clean and well located, but the price felt far too high for such an average stay. There weren’t any charging points in my room, at least not for the top bunks. My phone was down to 2%, and I needed an alarm to get up for my flight, so I had to sit in the hallway for 45 minutes while it charged.

The dorm’s big window keeps the air fresh at night, even with eight people in the room. But the thin curtain barely blocks any morning light. In spring and summer the sun floods the room by 5:40 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. The place is in a good location and reasonably clean, but it has very few basic services. There’s no guest kitchen. The only shared men’s bathroom is in the basement, with four toilets, four sinks, and four showers. There are no built-in dorm lockers, though each guest gets a locker with a padlock and key. They’re inconveniently located in a hallway near the lobby. I’d call it more of a simple bed rental than a hostel, since so many expected services are missing. The receptionist, who may have been from South America or Spain, didn’t seem to know basic English and could manage only a few simple phrases. She seemed unsure and unprepared with hospitality procedures. At one point, when she didn’t know what to do, she said things like, “No, no, I don’t understand. Come back later when my colleague is here.” There’s no luggage storage at all, even for a fee. You can’t leave bags on the premises before check-in or even for a couple of hours after checkout.

The location was perfect, right in the city center near shops, and it worked out great for carnival, which I hadn’t even known about 😂. The rooms were clean and decent, though there weren’t enough plugs. You make your own bed, and it was comfortable but a little squeaky. The toilet was out of soap, and the shower was okay overall. Staff were lovely, and it was very cheap, just under £40.

I’ve visited nearly 30 countries, and this was the worst hospitality experience I’ve had. During my stay from February 6th to 8th, a system error stopped my entry card from working. I was left outside in 1°C (34°F) in the middle of the night. There was nobody I could reach for help, and the lack of communication was the most frustrating part. I got sick afterward and couldn’t work for a full week after returning home. They’ve ignored my messages and haven’t replied to the formal complaint I filed through Booking.com. This place leaves guests out in the cold and takes no responsibility. Don’t stay here or risk your money or health.
