We stopped at this hotel on our trip from Eindhoven to Amsterdam. Our deluxe room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. For the price and standard, I expected some extras, though. There were no bathrobes or slippers, things you'd normally count on in a room like this, so I hadn't brought any from home.
We were freezing. The room was bitterly cold, and when we contacted the front desk, they messaged us that the hotel wasn't equipped with heating. I even attached a screenshot. For a four-star hotel in the Netherlands, that response was absurd. We spent hours cold before they finally brought a portable electric radiator late at night. The Assistant Front Office Manager later admitted in writing that the heating had failed and that we'd suffered, but wouldn't refund breakfast. Instead, he offered a voucher for a free drink, which felt insulting. We paid the full bill under protest. The photo I attached shows how guests are treated here: cold rooms, dishonest staff, and no accountability. Avoid this place.
The hotel has a nice atmosphere, with many guests in their 30s and 40s there for conferences. My studio bed was very comfortable, and reception staff were generally helpful and patient. Tim was particularly professional and arranged a place for me to work near reception when he saw that the business station was freezing in winter because it wasn't insulated from outdoors. The study lighting in the room was more romantic than practical, and didn't work well for a long-term guest trying to work. The central location was convenient, not far from Eindhoven station and the city centre. The area felt safe, with a medium-sized supermarket and a gym two minutes away. The hotel restaurant served good, healthy food and the waiters were attentive, especially a young woman from Curaçao whose name I don't know. The restaurant was very overpriced, though, as was breakfast at 22 euros. It had plenty of good options, but the high cost isn't justified by the fact that many conference guests get breakfast included in a group booking. The Netherlands is expensive, but hotels don't need to overcharge for breakfast. Most guests probably don't drink Cava in the morning, and the bottles stayed closed on all but one of the days I was there. On my last morning, I had to check out before breakfast opened. Since I was a long-term studio guest with a kitchen, I asked for a box with food from the breakfast they'd served the previous day. They agreed, which I appreciated. I also noticed a large Brita purifier for water and ice near reception, but only the ice side was clearly marked. I suspect many guests don't know they can get water there. There were several service problems. The toilet wasn't properly cleaned when I arrived, so I asked them to send someone back. The steam sauna wasn't working on three different days. After I contacted reception the second day, the manager, a young curly-haired man, went and fixed it by restarting it. But on the third day, a Saturday, a young receptionist spoke to me very unprofessionally around 11 a.m. She said there were no reception managers until 3 p.m., nothing could be done because it wasn't an emergency, and she couldn't ask anyone or access the right contact. Another issue was when a cleaner came into my room at 5 p.m. right after knocking several times, without waiting for an answer, and told me I should have checked out. I'd extended my stay the night before. She didn't see me undressed because the studio has a hallway, but it was still uncomfortable. After that and the sauna incident, a receptionist manager offered complimentary breakfast for the rest of my stay. That at least showed they were trying to make things right, and apart from that one receptionist, everyone at reception was helpful and patient. There's also a small gym, as well as a spa with steam and regular saunas.
The Superior Spa room felt brand new: spotless, spacious, and set up perfectly for a relaxing night together. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was large, and the big jacuzzi worked well and was easy to use. We really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of sweet and savoury choices. Having prosecco available was a lovely surprise. The receptionists who helped us on 29-30.11 were so welcoming and helpful, and made the night even nicer. Westcord hotel is somewhere we'd definitely visit again.
The room was huge, with a cool industrial look that I loved, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The central location was great, breakfast was amazing, and the service was consistently friendly and professional. Parking right outside was a nice bonus. There was no AC in my room, and for the price I expected at least a bottle of water. Even so, I'd highly recommend it.
