Boutique Hotel Elburg

The old building took some getting used to because you can hear people moving around, though after the first night it stopped bothering us. The hotel itself was brilliant, with friendly owners and a good breakfast; we also had a nice view over the old streets. There are plenty of good restaurants, shops, and activities nearby, and being close to Walibi Holland was a big plus on our theme park road trip. No major complaints.

The hotel is in the middle of a cute town, and the people there were nice. The city tax was the one real downside: after the stay, I had to pay more than €76. My room gave me the choice of sleeping on two chairs or on the floor, so I spent the first night on the chairs and the second on the floor.

The narrow, steep, winding stairs were the last thing I wanted to climb after a full workday, and the thin walls plus noisy rooftop room kept interrupting my sleep, even though I'm usually a heavy sleeper. I stayed at Elburg Hotel for a week on business, in a room with an external bathroom booked by my company. It was decent enough for visiting the area, but several things made it a poor fit for work. There was no microwave or fridge, which mattered because after work I like to grab a few groceries and relax with snacks in my room. Street parking outside was always full, so I used the free parking by the city square, about 400m away. The desk wasn't staffed, and I had to call to reach someone. I spent the whole trip worrying that my key card might get magnetized while I was in the bathroom, leaving me waiting downstairs in a towel. For a leisure visit this would be a great hotel, but for my business trip it wasn't a good choice.

We stopped in for a drink and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and polite. I had homemade eggnog with my tea, liked it so much that I bought a bottle!
