Van der Valk Hotel Hilversum - de Witte Bergen

Getting there is easy, since the hotel is close to the highway. The rooms and hotel itself feel a bit dated. The bathroom is fairly small, with the shower set in the bathtub.

There was plenty of room to park, and the grounds had a lovely landscape. Our room was big and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very tasty, with more than 40 options spanning Dutch, English, and Asian cuisine. The staff were sincere and good. We stayed at hotel hilversum , Amsterdam Netherlands, and it was awesome.

The room we were given was missing its kettle, and the TV wouldn't work. I asked reception for help. The receptionist came up and spent about 10 minutes before figuring out it wasn't working. After trying to sort it out, he asked, "Is it important for you?" I said yes, or I wouldn't have asked him to fix it. He explained that some guests don't consider it critical. He then offered another room and expected me to go downstairs with him for the new key. The elevator was broken, so I refused. Ten minutes later he brought the key up, but that one didn't work either. Then it was another 10 minutes waiting in the corridor for a working key. There are 7 pictures attached. The staff were just about okay, maybe a little unfriendly. The 80's decor was neglected and dated, damaged but functional. For the price, I expected much better service. Never again. One star to express that.

On our second visit to the restaurant, the food came quickly, but the French fries were almost cold. The "varkenshaas" was fine, while the schnitzel had little flavor. We also had trouble getting the bill at the end because the waiter forgot it. Earlier, we noticed our glasses weren't clean and politely said so. The server and restaurant manager weren't very welcoming in response. We asked for two clean glasses, but only one was replaced, so one person in our group had to drink straight from the beer bottle. The experience fell short of what we expected.
