B&B Puur Drenthe

That hamburger was bad. The restaurant looks so nice, but the service needs a lot of work 😅. Asking about the charcuterie board turned into a whole back-and-forth: the girl said it was like the picture, except for these things, then clarified that those things weren't on it either. Haha, ohhh.

We slept well the second night and had a huge, varied breakfast, at a place that was €15 cheaper. That made the price here feel even harder to justify. This B&B is fine at €100, perhaps €110 at most, but not €192. The setting is lovely, the hostess is friendly, and the place is clean. There were coffee pods, but no sugar or milk, which you'd expect at this price. The dining table has only wooden chairs, with no comfortable or reclining chair, though there wouldn't really be room for one because the double bed fills the whole room. And the chicken coop is only ten metres away. The rooster started crowing at 5:15 and just kept going. We expected more for such an expensive stay.

The rain lasted all day, so we didn't get to enjoy the large field behind the accommodation much. The children managed to play there for a little while, though, and the next morning they got to help feed the sheep and chickens and bottle-feed a lamb. They loved it. Breakfast was delicious and generous, too. We stayed one night during the May holidays and felt at home straight away thanks to the hostess's warm welcome. The rooms were spacious, tidy, and well equipped. We also had a lovely meal at the neighbours' pancake restaurant, De Strohoed. A great place for a night or more!

The apartment was furnished with so much care, and it was even better than I expected. We got a wonderfully warm welcome, and breakfast was outstanding. There were also things for the children to play with. Our stay was much too short. If we come to the Netherlands again, we'll definitely stay at Puur Drenthe. Thank you, Marjan! 🤗
