We had drinks by the roaring fire in the lounge, where there were board games to play. The staff were genuinely thoughtful and caring, and knew the area as well as the food and wines. The head chef was a great person to talk with about the wildlife, and made sure our daughters' food needs were accommodated. Our family of four, including two teens, really enjoyed the stay. The rooms were nicely appointed, though a little warm for us, and easy to adjust. The grounds are well kept, with lovely walking paths and bikes available. There's also a great pool, 1.40 and heated to 28 degrees. We didn't swim because there was a storm, but would have been happy to otherwise. The poolhouse has changing facilities beside the pool and serves light snacks in summer. We'll definitely be back!

The three dinners were all excellent, and Rita made each evening feel special while looking after us so well. Chef Dennis also went out of his way to welcome our two young girls and make the visit memorable for them. We stayed three nights on the package with extended breakfast and a four-course dinner. We arrived on 12 April after a 14-hour flight from Singapore, tired from jet lag and travelling with our daughters, aged 5 and 2. There was a large event group of about 100 guests, but the staff made us feel comfortable right away. The property is beautiful, surrounded by nature and well suited to a relaxing break. Dining is on the formal side, but the staff were warm and accommodating with the kids. The AC unit wasn't working, which was the one small drawback, though the cool spring nights meant it didn't really affect our stay. It was a lovely visit that exceeded what we expected, especially because of the people who made it feel like home.

We were welcomed so warmly, and the six-course meal was something special, made with care and real attention to detail. The main house has several dining and sitting areas, including a bar with a lovely open fire. There's also a semi-outdoor spot by the pool. The place sits in a beautiful forest area, with lovely walks nearby, bikes for hire, a tennis court, and a charger for electric cars. If you're after a special experience and have some money to spend, this place is worth considering.

The food was good, but we left feeling underwhelmed by the overall experience. We went to Het Roode Koper Restaurant for our anniversary and arrived among the first guests, looking forward to a lovely meal. Service was lacking, and staff didn't check on us very often. When I asked for a chair for my purse so I wouldn't have to put it on the floor, the server said no because all the chairs would eventually be needed. We were the first ones there. At this price point, I expected a better level of attention.
