The hostess was so welcoming and kind, and the breakfast was perfectly prepared. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and having a private bathroom felt like a luxury for a B&B. The location is beautiful, and everything looks so well cared for and clean. The rooms and shared spaces feel lovely and homely, so you feel at home right away. Highly recommended!

Harlingen was a great change of plan. Tjarda's enthusiasm sent us there instead of to Leeuwarden, and we went by train. The B&B is an easy walk from the station, and Harlingen's center is only a few minutes away. The busy harbor, with ferries to the Wadden Islands, sits alongside a friendly center full of monumental buildings. We didn't regret the switch for a second. In Franeker, we enjoyed just wandering around, and visited the Eise Eisinga Planetarium, which is a must-see in the area, and the Martenahuis, which is worth a visit too. This was our first B&B, and from the first moment we felt like welcome guests, not just a "room number." The downside is that Tjarda has set a high bar for our future B&B stays, though we certainly don't blame her. Friesland is a lovely destination for a short or longer break. We stayed two days in the front room, De Houtzolder, a tastefully decorated space overlooking the Noordergracht canal, with a bed you could get lost in. The building was turned from a dilapidated place into a beautiful B&B with three rooms three years ago. If street noise bothers you, the other rooms at the quieter back may suit you better. The breakfast was fantastic, with fresh, delicious local products that kept us going well into the afternoon. The smell of the bread rolls and the orange juicer's clatter drew us into the shared breakfast room. Tjarda clearly loves making guests feel at home, and chatting with her and the other guests made us want to choose a B&B again.

Tjarda and her family were so kind, and the breakfast left us wanting for nothing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book again in a heartbeat. The place is beautifully furnished with attention to detail, impeccably clean, and right in central Franeker while still completely quiet. It absolutely deserves 5 stars!

I've stayed here three times in a short period, so I can highly recommend it. The setting by the water is lovely, and the whole place feels stylish and atmospheric, with everything finished beautifully. The rooms are lovely and the beds comfortable. Hostess Tjarda is friendly and hospitable, and makes a delicious breakfast in a beautiful breakfast room.
