This is an annex of Hotel Frederiksoord, so there’s no service in the building. In the evening we asked if we could take a carafe of wine with us, but weren’t allowed. For a drink, we had to stay in the main building, or cross the street for another glass once we’d finished the wine.

We were cycling around looking for a nice B&B, but the drinks on the terrace put us off. Check the prices before ordering: a 330ml can of Lidl Finkbräu beer (€0.38), a 500ml can of Lidl Radler (€0.65), and one glass of white wine came to €12 (twelve!!!). That felt totally outrageous. There’s nothing wrong with Lidl quality, by the way. We also got a “free” bowl of salted peanuts, but by then I didn’t feel like leaving a tip. We went to another B&B. The location itself is excellent for a B&B.

We had a comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast in the morning. I stayed here overnight with my girlfriend while we explored this corner of the Netherlands. There’s lots to do nearby, with two beautiful dolmens, heathland and forests to explore by bike, and Giethoorn not too far away. Highly recommend it.

The history of Frederiksoord tour was really enjoyable. We also loved the excellent room, tasty breakfast, and warm welcome during our two days at this B&B.

The setting is lovely and there’s plenty to see, but the food and drinks could be better quality. The bitterballen and mustard didn’t have much taste, and the alcohol-free beer was past its date. I’ve heard lunch is good. There’s more potential for the terrace if they use better-quality products. Please go for quality. The service was friendly, and it wasn’t bad overall.
