Bed & Breakfast Giethoorn

The room was lovely and everything else felt perfect. The water kettle was pretty old, though, and could use replacing. I’d happily recommend the place.

Our cat loved being able to get out into the garden, and pets are welcome here. We stayed in the Rose suite upstairs, which was nicely furnished and had a lovely sunset view. The big bedroom even had a bathtub. The hosts were really kind and helpful, and they brought a very nice breakfast basket right to our door. It’s about a five-minute walk from the old centre of Giethoorn. There was a little dust under the bed, but nothing serious.

The view from the first-floor Rose Suite bedroom apartment was pleasant, but getting there meant climbing a narrow spiral staircase with no railing. The garden has a table and chairs, though you may need to share them with the downstairs guests if both apartments are occupied. I found the bed linen uncomfortable. It was the fluffy, no-iron kind rather than standard white cotton, which I really can’t stand. The sheets smelled okay, but not freshly washed, and the decorative pillows had a dusty smell. When I moved the extra bed, I found that the area beneath the bed hadn’t been vacuumed properly, with two families of spiders up there. The curtains aren’t even semi-opaque, so sunrise was a bit disruptive. For the price, I don’t think the quality was worth it. This was in August 2024.

We stayed for two nights in June and had a lovely time. The accommodation was spacious, with a charming backyard garden. We arrived three hours before check-in, and the hosts kindly let us leave our bags there, so we could enjoy the afternoon without carrying them around. We chose the less common vegetarian breakfast and got a generous meal each time. Wishing Bert & Roelie all the best with their endeavor.
