Flonk hotel Groningen centre

The staff were friendly, and after I finally got through on the phone, they helped with my request before I arrived. The place itself was clean, but the cheaper rooms feel stuck in 2005, with lime green, chrome and generic furniture. My sheet had a hole, though at least it was clean. Breakfast is basic, and I only ate it because work was paying. There was just one all-purpose shampoo and shower gel. Compared with another similarly priced hotel in Groningen that offered separate shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash and lotion, this place feels behind the competition.

The staff were friendly, and the room had plenty of space, though it felt dated and could have been cleaner. The hotel is being renovated at the moment, so there was some noise during my stay. There’s an underground parking garage, but it’s narrow.

The hotel is right in the City Center, so anywhere I wanted to go in Groningen was an easy walk. Customer service was good, and I’d happily stay here again. As of Feb. 2026, renovations were underway, which made the place less polished than it should be once the work is finished. The on-site parking was VERY tight, and as an American I found handing over my car keys each evening a bit disconcerting. It took some getting used to.

We visited while renovation work was going on. It made things look a little messy, though it wasn’t a big problem. The lobby is great, and the hotel is nice.
