Hotel In de Witte Dame

The parsnip soup was lovely, though the bread served with it was old and tough. I mentioned that to the waitress. It’s a cozy restaurant with friendly staff, and they made a nice cappuccino with a little cream-topped liquor on the side.

The De Witte Dame lunch was a real treat if you’re hungry. It’s dark brown bread with toast, ham, cheese, bacon, and three perfectly cooked eggs on top. My husband and I both ordered it and really enjoyed it. There were a few kid-friendly choices too, including chicken nuggets and a toastie. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the staff were friendly. I’d definitely recommend the place.

We had the white asparagus, a local delicacy served from April through the end of June, and it was delicious. The waitress and waiter were kind, chatted with us a little, and helped promptly. Highly recommended.

The main thing to know is that trains are clearly audible here, even with the windows shut. I’m somewhat sensitive to noise and got used to it, but still wore earplugs at night, so bring some if noise bothers you. The hotel is by the tracks. We stayed six nights at In de Witte Dame boutique hotel, in a really nice superior room under the attic. It was large, with a big bed, a cool bathtub, a kitchenette, three roof windows, and air conditioning. Breakfast has a small selection. We ate there three times, having granola and a ham sandwich adapted for us with two fried eggs. It was tasty and totally fine. After a noisy day in the city, it’s a lovely place to rest and recharge. Abcoude is a cute little town with a few coffee shops and restaurants, plus supermarkets. Parking was easy and free. The station is an eight minute walk, and Amsterdam Central is about 20 minutes away by train. I’d happily stay again and recommend it.
