Hotel restaurant Rozenhof

The hotel was small and quiet, and the neighbourhood was great for walks, hikes, and trips to cultural and nature parks. Breakfast came with freshly baked bread and was good, though a few more choices, especially salads and vegetables, would be welcome. Our twin room felt a little cramped for morning exercise, but the bathroom was spacious.

We stayed outside Nijmegen, where there’s a really good free car park across the street. The staff were friendly, but the old building carries sound between rooms, which was pretty unpleasant at night. Our room also had no air conditioning. We should have checked that before booking.

Parking was easy, with a large free public lot in front of the hotel across the street. The house itself is lovely, our room was clean and nice, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was the weak point: not much choice, and most of it was cold.

There was a homeless man in the porch, and the food didn’t beat prison porridge, but neither spoiled a great trip. After spending most of my life in a category A prison, I’d struggled to find a bed in a more secure place. This one had a proper lock and key and felt safe and secure. I loved it, it took me back.
