Courtyard by Marriott Amsterdam Airport

The rooms are the reason I'd stay again. They're fantastic, with comfy beds and soft, thick pillows, and I love sleeping here. Breakfast is great too, and the food is okay; I've eaten it several times. The view is quaint, and noise is mostly fine, though the Claus parking lot can mean more car noise than usual. The location is okay, but there's not much nearby unless you want an expensive South American steakhouse, so you have to Uber. The bar is awful: the bartenders seem to know how to serve beer, but forget cocktails. There are gnats all over the bar. I've told them three times and nothing has changed. They breed in the bar even when it's freezing outside, which makes eating and drinking there gross. Service from the waiters and waitresses is slow. It's Europe, and they don't seem driven to be prompt; it feels like a bar simulator on easy mode for customers with low standards. I'd only stay for the rooms.

After a long, unexpected travel day, I found the room clean and comfortable, and the reception team was kind and helpful. They also provided dinner, which I really appreciated, then arranged a free shuttle to the airport in the morning. My stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Schiphol hadn't been planned: my KLM flight was canceled because of bad weather, and I got a hotel voucher at the airport for this property. Despite the circumstances, it turned into a very pleasant, smooth experience.

The big disappointment was the room: my kids kept finding cigarette butts, even though we don't smoke. There weren't enough towels either, and at checkout the front desk neither offered a remedy nor avoided charging me for the call I made to request more. I was shocked. Otherwise, the staff were fantastic, especially at breakfast, and the fields and parks behind the hotel are amazing. There's a bowling alley, two restaurants, and an escape room attached, plus a laundry room and a decent gym. This Courtyard had much more than I expected.

I spent 88 days here, and the lounge team made that time memorable. Karina and bartender Brandon were especially kind, and the breakfast staff were welcoming and attentive every morning. The front desk was always pleasant and ready to help, and I’m grateful to management for their continued support. The hotel has great amenities, including a bowling alley and casino, and next door is a Brazilian restaurant with a great owner and attentive staff. When I’m back in Amsterdam, this will be my hotel of choice.
