Van der Valk Hotel Hardegarijp - Leeuwarden

The hotel and restaurant look a little dated, but they work well enough for a quick drink or bite. We stopped for lunch and enjoyed it: tasty, though nothing out of the ordinary. A pleasant, convenient place to pause.

I only went to the restaurant this time. The portions were generous, the prices fair, and I really liked the straightforward, fresh food. Senna served us with a cheerful, attentive manner that was still professional, a rare thing to see among younger hospitality staff these days. The menu has international choices, and the restaurant feels like a more classic take on the other, more modernized Van Der Valk restaurants. A nice spot if you want good food.

I only came for lunch, not an overnight stay. There was plenty to pick from, including some dinner and breakfast options even at lunchtime. The staff were pleasant, and it wasn't busy. The sandwiches were too dry, though the meat and toppings were nice. The food was good, just not great.

The staff were friendly and did their best, in my opinion, but ordering food and drinks took quite a bit of effort. The quality and taste were acceptable, though nothing special. Compared with other Van der Valk hotels, this was one of the less enjoyable places I've visited.
