The room cleaning system was a failure for us. Guests are told to scan and book a cleaning, but even after doing that, nobody came. I informed reception too, and still the room was left uncleaned. When I complained, the receptionist said she was trying to HELP me. We had to use the same towels for 3 days in a row, and guests may be expected to change the bed liners and pillow covers themselves. If that kind of stay sounds acceptable to you, you can book here. Otherwise, there are plenty of other hotels. I also felt we were treated very badly and discriminated against because we are Asian. On top of that, I heard the reception say they would punch me. The person who said it didn’t have the courage to follow through, but it was still a nightmare of an experience.

The breakfast was rich and really tasty, and the staff were warm and helpful. We enjoyed walks along the beach and out on the pier to the lighthouse. Our room had a sauna and bubble bath, which made for a relaxing way to wind down after walking. It was disappointing to find the bath tub hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. A hotel offering suites like this should make sure that happens, and could be more comfortable with better attention from the cleaning team.

We stayed two nights over New Year and had a comfortable time. It was mostly quiet, apart from nearby fireworks for about 20-30m around midnight, which wasn’t too bad. We liked that dogs are welcome and might return with ours. There were a few things that need attention: dust on the overhead bed support and candle holders, a bathroom fan that’s so weak it would help to be able to leave the door open, and one late morning when the boiler left us with no hot water and we had to shower cold.

The place was so quiet and peaceful, with a charm of its own. We had a beautiful sea and dune view from our room, and spent time on the balcony sipping coffee. The sauna and jacuzzi helped us properly relax and recharge. The breakfast was fresh, varied and delicious. We had ribs for dinner, which were amazing, and also tried the mixed grill with different kinds of meat. That was delicious too, but the portions were so large we skipped dessert. There were champagne, sweets, rose petals and other lovely surprises waiting for us in the room when we arrived. It was really touching and made for unforgettable days.

We had a wellness suite that was really nice, and the staff were very friendly. It was a very good hotel, and I think we’d come back sometime.
