We made good use of the boat hire, and the shop and takeaway were handy too, with plenty of good choices. The site itself is beautiful and well kept. The pool, slides, playground and beach were all excellent.

Even with the rain, we had a lovely stay and easily found a good waterside spot for our van. The setting is wonderful, especially for walks along the water, and it looks like a good place for fishing too. The toilets and showers were very clean, with extra facilities available for families.

We rented a house and found it perfect, and the children especially loved the new swimming pool area. Our family of five, plus our boat, stayed for a week on each of our two visits in 2023, and both holidays were great. We also enjoyed the fast food takeaway, especially the pizza and French fries. We plan to return.

The setting on Johan Frisokanaal, between the IJsselmeer and the inland lakes, is lovely, and that seems to be De Kuilart’s main draw. I’ve watched the place decline over several years. Prices keep rising while service slips: parking fees have gone up sharply, the bungalows are deteriorating and smell, restaurant portions have shrunk, and even the paper towels have disappeared. Taken together, it feels like the owners care more about squeezing out every last cent than looking after guests. I’d say it’s a good place to start looking elsewhere, so you don’t spend too long here.
