Sallandelijk Bakhuis

That bed was blissful! The Bakhuis feels like a warm, cozy cottage with a bit of luxury, tucked among greenery. I woke to birdsong and chickens scratching around the yard. Diederick was relaxed, welcoming, and helpful. There are lovely walking and cycling routes right nearby, and Deventer is close for boutiques and good restaurants. It suited me as a solo traveler, and would also work for a couple or family. Treat yourself to a stay!

We had a really nice stay in a small, cozy house with underfloor heating. Our dog was welcome at no extra cost, which we hadn’t experienced in a long time. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. Breakfast was included, and we had everything we needed. We made fresh orange juice, scrambled eggs, and fruit. When it’s cold, it would help to turn up the heating in the breakfast room, relaxation room, and games room about half an hour beforehand so breakfast is comfortable. We played table tennis every evening. It was simply great, and you can rent bicycles too.

Fresh bread from the bread maker in the morning was a lovely touch. The host was fantastic, with lots of helpful tips, and there’s plenty to do: a private kitchen, foosball, table tennis, badminton, and a trampoline. Or I could just read in the spacious garden. No TV suited me fine, and the Wi-Fi was fast when needed. The accommodation is great value, with a delicious breakfast and beautiful countryside for walks or cycling. You can also head straight onto a lovely mountain bike trail. Zwolle and Deventer are nearby and both beautiful cities, then it’s back to the peaceful rural Sallandelijke Bakhuis. A wonderful place for a few days or a week, as a couple or with family.

It felt like having breakfast at grandma’s in a village somewhere in the Netherlands. There’s a separate little guesthouse for four, plus a “shed” with tables for games and a full breakfast.
