Breathe Boutique hotel Leiden

There’s plenty of storage in the room, plus a microwave, fridge, and modern bathroom. Ours was about 15 square meters and the smallest of the four options at Breathe, but it didn’t feel claustrophobic. The passageway also serves as the breakfast area, and coffee and tea are available in the lobby any time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A family member who lives nearby recommended the hotel. It’s in a neighborhood where locals go about their daily lives, so we got to experience Dutch life: canals with boats, flower-lined alleys, bridges, bikers, and the Saturday farmers market. It was peaceful and quiet, away from the crowds of Amsterdam or Hague, with easy Uber or bus access to the railway station. All the best to Breathe.

Everything we needed was within three blocks, and we found the east end of the city much nicer to stay in than the west, toward Leiden Centraal. It’s a safe area with a great view, and I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed Leiden, thanks in no small part to this hotel. The staff were polite and accommodating, the rooms spotlessly clean, and the bed very comfortable. There were two pillow options, feather or memory foam, along with a fridge, microwave, dishware, and a high-tech coffee machine. If clean comfort is what you’re after, this is the place. It’s without a doubt the finest hotel in Leiden, and we plan to return. Many thanks from Canada!

There are only 18 rooms, and they’re all very modern, with a little kitchen area that includes a microwave. No restaurant, but there’s free coffee, water, and a bowl of fruit. You can store or hire a bike, too. The hotel is tucked away on a pretty riverside side street. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. I’d love to stay again 😁

The people working there were so friendly and made our stay feel special. My daughter and I spent three wonderful days in these cozy, very clean rooms, with their distinctive decor and gorgeous mattress. Coffee and tea were available in the lobby around the clock. The center is an easy walk along the canals, and there’s a supermarket just two or three minutes away. It’s absolutely worth visiting many times, and this will be our “home” whenever we’re in Leiden.
