Van der Valk Hotel Lelystad

I stayed here for a work event, and everything was convenient and well organized. The atmosphere felt professional without being uncomfortable, and my experience was very good. My company plans to keep hosting events here, so I’ll likely be back often. There’s plenty to do on site, whether you’re working or relaxing: a restaurant, gym, spa, and even a club. A solid place for business events and stays.

The gym was bigger than any I’ve seen at another van der Valk, and upstairs I had a great cocktail suggested by bartender Feresh. The service there was great too, and the view was astonishing. I really liked how minimalist and easy-going the stay felt. I was here for business in lelystead and had a great stay. My room was quite clean and luxurious, and I slept like a baby. The sauna downstairs was broken, which was a bit of a bummer.

Emmy was welcoming, polite, and quick to serve us. The restaurant was delicious, the rooms fantastic and super clean, and the sky bar really neat. I love this chain, but this hotel is a particular favorite.

The room wasn’t clean, and the towels had poop stains. The mattress was so uncomfortable that a military bed would be better. The hallway also always smelled unpleasant, like sweat and cigarettes. I visit the chain often, and this was a huge drop in standards from what I know and enjoy spending money on when I want to treat myself. The stains and odors made me afraid to touch anything. Add the poor sleep, and the result is obvious: a terrible feeling. Also, if you sit on the WC for more than 4 minutes, the light turns off. There’s no physical switch, just a sensor, so you have to dance around to turn it back on.
