If you want a duplex suite where a very steep staircase inside the room leads to the bed"room", this is the place. If you fall down it, don't expect much help from an employee, who apparently doesn't care. I emailed to complain and got no response. They charge over 200 euros for this "special" room, by the way. The living "room" is so dark you need your phone to find things in a space the size of a stamp. I didn't enjoy my stay.

The Roosevelt hotel apartment was a lovely place to stay. Check-in came with a really warm welcome, and the owner was flexible about our reservation, which we appreciated. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the location beautiful and very central. The interior is stylish too. Breakfast was good, with eggs made the way you like, such as scrambled with bacon or an omelette with ham and cheese. A nice extra was Roosevelt’s own coffee melange, which made a delicious cappuccino. Check-out was professional and very friendly.

Five stars. The apartments are sophisticated and extremely clean. I’d happily stay again and again.

That historic building is kept in beautiful shape, and staying there really feels like stepping into a bit of the past. I travel for work often, and the service at boutique hotel the Roosevelt went well beyond what I expected, especially by Dutch standards. The staff were charming, and chef Antoine is a gem. His food was delicious, with a lot of effort going into unexpected flavors. I’ll make this my go-to in Middelburg for as long as I’m here.

The interior really worked for me, with its old-fashioned style mixed with playful art and more modern touches. There’s a great bar with tasty finger food, and I enjoyed the breakfast too. The service there was especially good, and the staff were great.
