Hotel De Molenhoek - Nijmegen

The room stayed freezing cold. We asked for a heater, but were told they didn't have one and the room would warm up in half an hour. More than two hours later, nothing had changed. We asked for a refund, but the reception said they'd only return half of the room price, €98, even though we hadn't touched anything in the room. We tried to speak to the manager, but were told they were on holiday. We also tried to eat at the restaurant and were very disappointed. The menu wasn't in English, and after asking about a mistake, we were given different items. The food cost €88, but we didn't eat it because it smelled bad and tasted bad. We rented a room in this hotel, and when we returned from the restaurant it was still ice cold.

The room was nice, with a good bed and jacuzzi. The rest was good too, but the elevator and passage smelled strongly of marijuana and could use more supervision. The garbage bucket was full and hadn't been cleaned, the phone was dusty, the cleanex dispenser was empty, and nobody answered when we called.

I regret booking here despite seeing the negative reviews. The hotel isn't well located, and the rooms are basic and old, with no AC. When it's hot, they get stuffy and almost uncomfortable. Service was horrible: I asked for a steam iron to press my clothes, but neither of the hotel's two irons was available. That's absurd for a fairly big hotel. I'd avoid this place at all costs.

I was there for a music festival I had to attend for work. Inside, everything was fine. The restaurant was the one problem, and I waited a long time to get attention on the terrace. Service there was just slow.
