The farm setting was gorgeous, and the host was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. There were loads of animals to see, plus toys for kids both outdoors and in the communal area. We had fun with Scrabble too. The pedalos are great for taking out on the lake once you clear away the spiders. The kitchen was really good, very clean, and had plates, cups, and cutlery. Coming out of the rooms, there’s a strong cow barn smell, which is what you’d expect on a farm. If strong smells bother you, this might not be the place for you. It’s also a bit of a walk to anywhere, including the bus stop, though the walk is lovely, with gorgeous scenery and nice houses. I didn’t mind it. I took off a star for the room because my bed had a sloped ceiling right above it, making it hard to sit up. Otherwise, perfect. We visited in summer and had an amazing time.

Thanks for hosting us, Jannie! The kids loved seeing the animals and playing with all the tractors and toys. We had such a great time. It’s a great spot for visiting the small town, and getting to Amsterdam and the airport was easy enough too.

A couple of things we expected weren’t included, especially towels, but we could get them for an extra charge. The host was friendly and very accommodating. Our group filled the farmhouse/guesthouse to capacity, and it worked really well for us. It’s close to Amsterdam and plenty of other Netherlands sights, while still giving you a real Dutch farm setting to relax and run around between day trips.

Overleekerhoeve really deserves a positive review, which I don’t often write. It’s a great base for seeing Amsterdam and North Holland, especially with a family. You get a real farm in beautiful green countryside, with lots of activities and places to visit. The rooms are clean and well kept, and if you stay in them, there’s a roomy shared kitchen where you can cook and eat. Kids will love the animals and playing outside. The owner was extremely helpful and polite.

The kids had plenty to do with all the animals and toys, and the place was lovely and peaceful. It's so close to the big city, too. We had an amazing visit, worth every minute.
