Mercure City Nijmegen Centre Hotel

The reception staff were very helpful, and the location beside the station was convenient. Parking was easy, although crowded at the weekend. The restaurant was closed then, but some restaurants are close by. There were lots of young adults in the hotel at weekends, but they weren't noisy. We booked a Privilege Room double, 333 sq. ft., rather than a standard room, 258 sq. ft., for 2 nights. Our room on floor 8 looked small, though that seems to be how modern European hotels are laid out. We faced the train station and heard little noise. The room was clean and well furnished. I happened to read an email saying we'd be checked out after one night, so I went to reception. They explained the room was closing for construction. We had little notice, which was inconvenient, but they moved us to a much larger room on the first floor (second floor in USA), with a large bathroom and a great shower. It was quiet there too. The lighting was good, though I had to try different switches to work out which lights they controlled. Euro plugs were well placed. There was no phone in the room, which is increasingly common these days.

I've stayed here many times before. Breakfast was as good as ever, with everything needed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Renovation work on the upper floors was clearly audible from my room this time, so they moved me to a lower floor. It was much more pleasant there.

The staff were incredibly friendly. Since we were celebrating our 1 year relationship anniversary, they welcomed us with a glass of Prosecco. Our room was great. It was a little cold at first, but we turned on the heating and asked for an extra blanket, and then everything was perfect. The shower had strong pressure, which was amazing in the morning. Breakfast was fresh, varied, and very good. For the price, you get an excellent amount of food.

For a business trip, it was a satisfactory stay, with excellent staff and reasonably priced food. The twin room beds were quite narrow and could be more comfortable. The bar and restaurant atmosphere would also be better with a TV or some quiet background music.
