It really feels like paradise!

We spent six nights here as a family, and the owner made us feel incredibly welcome. They were kind and always helpful. The wooden house sits right in a peaceful, green garden, a lovely place to unwind after a day out. Breakfast was superb and brought straight to the house. You can also cook for yourself and pick up groceries at the supermarket in the center of Ochten. It’s well placed for getting to the main sights, usually around 1 to 1.5 hours away. A great choice if you want a taste of authentic Holland.

Breakfast was generous, tasty, and nicely prepared. We only stayed one night while passing through, but the cottage was a lovely surprise, tucked among greenery beside a babbling brook. It’s small, though very cozy, and reminded us of waking up in Ubud (Bali) 😍. The daughter was enthusiastic and showed us to the accommodation, and the little narrow streets on the way there were a nice start. Keep in mind that the cottage is up some stairs on higher ground, so it won’t suit people with mobility issues. One thought: the space on the right, now used as an extra sleeping area, seems large enough for a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and bath. It’s such a romantic spot that I’d rent it to couples 🥰.

The cabin itself was spotless, with no problems at all inside, and breakfast was perfectly fine. There are four beds: a double and a bunk bed. The garden wasn’t especially well kept when we visited, and the water features weren’t running. A very friendly woman welcomed us. She spoke English rather than Dutch, which was fine for us but could be an extra hurdle for some guests. Nice stove!
