That bath made it feel like a proper holiday, and I had a few really lovely days here. The house was very nice, with a fenced garden for the dogs, and the hosts were so welcoming. They even left a bowl of treats for the dogs. Oosterwolde is beautiful, with several off-leash areas nearby. There’s also a patch of woodland with a hill across the road, great for a quick walk with the dog.

Breakfast was well worth booking, with a fridge full of goodies, different kinds of bread, and Frisian sugar bread. They kept checking that we had enough. The old farmhouse has an authentic feel but is fully equipped, and Taco and Mike are lovely hosts. It’s a delightful B&B in the Frisian countryside and a good base for exploring the three northern provinces. There are plenty of off-leash areas nearby for dogs.

The breakfast was generous, set out in the kitchen for whenever you wanted it, with delicious Frisian sugar bread, coffee, tea, juice, and water. We were welcomed warmly, communication beforehand was good, and the beds were made up. There were plenty of towels and toiletries, plus board games. We were given a clear explanation and tips for the area, right by a beautiful nature reserve. The beds were comfortable, though the pillows didn’t suit us as well. There were lots of insects despite the screens, so mosquito repellent or a fly swatter might help. We only stayed one night while passing through, but enjoyed ourselves a lot and would recommend it.

We had excellent beds and a fridge stocked with plenty of food. The house was large and all ours, and we got a warm, personal welcome. The area is beautiful, with great walks.
