Breakfast was included, had lots of options, and was excellent. We skipped dinner because the menu seemed more suited to family groups, and Domburg itself has plenty of more interesting places to eat. The bar was a good spot, with lots to choose from and the option to take a drink outside overlooking the moat. We were cycling through Belgium and the Netherlands, so Hostel Domburg suited our needs well. It’s a quiet spot in the dunes and coastal forest, about a 30-minute walk from central Domburg. The hostel has been modernised to a very high standard, and it’s not every day you get to stay in a former castle.

The tower room was great, and the surroundings made for a relaxing stay. The beach is an easy walk or bike ride away, with two lovely towns also just a short ride from Domburg. We had a wonderful family visit to this castle, though it was over far too soon.

There was no way to open the window, and the room layout made it hard to get out unless you opened the door all the way. The room itself was a letdown, crammed with beds and giving off an orphanage vibe. The old, dirty sheets had obvious yellow stains, and we had to make the beds ourselves. There were no towels, not even a small mat, and no shower gel, soap, or anything else.

I stayed for one night and had a really good time. The room was clean, and the restaurant food was delicious. The bathroom is small but does the job. Just remember to bring your own toiletries.
