B & B Van Marion

The setting is calm and convenient, in Ostvoorne, with a kitesurfing beach just 5 minutes away by car. Breakfast was standard, nothing to complain about. Rooms were clean, but space is very limited, so extra luggage could be a problem. I wasn't keen on the bathroom light that turns on with movement. It didn't seem to detect movement in the shower, and I had to wave several times to get it to come on. Keep in mind that check-in and checkout are at the hotel, not the B&B.

The rooms and beds were clean, and breakfast was very nice. But one of our rooms smelled really bad because a previous guest had smoked in it. The area isn't that great either: only one bar was open and it wasn't good, and the nearby industrial park spoils the view.

That was the worst experience of our 44 nights traveling through four Western European countries. The building seemed unmanaged, and the noise pollution was indescribable. The reception at the affiliated hotel couldn't do anything about it. It wasn't cheap, either.

If you want to sleep in a bit, avoid this place. Contractors mostly occupy the building and slam doors from 6 a.m., so sleeping later isn't possible. There's no air conditioning, and the rooms are quite old and need maintenance. The one comfort is a fairly large parking lot. Breakfast was just ham, cheese, and eggs. It looks cheap, but it really isn't.
